Adding page numbers to

...

citations

  • Highlight In the Word document, select the formatted citation in the Word document.by moving the cursor onto it
  • Click the Edit and Manage Citation(s) button in the EndNote ribbonSelect Edit Citation (Tools - EndNote X2 - Edit Citation).
  • Enter the page numbers in the suffix field
  • Enter any additional information such as a , or p with the spacing between such additional characters, exactly as you want to see it on screen

Click the OK button to save OK the changes you have made and then reformat the document

Adding pages numbers to Styles that allow footnotes: Please note that only a few styles allow the use of the pages field in the above Edit Citation screen

  • Highlight the formatted citation in the Word document.
  • Select Edit Citation (Tools - EndNote X2 - Edit Citation).
  • In the box labelled pages, enter the page number(s).
  • Enter any additional information such as , or p with the spacing between such additional characters, exactly as you want to see it on screen.
  • Click OK

If Cite While You Write is turned off, you will need to update the citations by clicking the “Update Citations and Bibliography” button

(warning) This process works for both in-text and footnotes styles – provided the Cited Pages field is listed in the citation/footnote template of the output style being used, which is normally the case

Unformatted Citations (Cite While You Write turned off)

If you are working with unformatted citations that are enclosed in { }, use the @ symbol to add page numbers.

For example, change {Layton, 2012 #366} to {Layton, 2012 #366@12–15}

The page numbers will appear when you click the “Update Citations and Bibliography” button in Word's EndNote ribbon.

(warning) This works for both in-text and footnotes styles – provided the Cited Pages field is listed in the citation/footnote template of the output style being used, which is normally the case
