Purpose

The UC Research Repository is an open-access database of original research authored by Canterbury academics, researchers and postgraduate students.  The Repository is intended as a means of exposing research by UC authors to as wide an audience as possible, but providing free access to the full text of research, through common internet search tools such as Google Scholar.

Scope

The Repository is intended as an archival storage tool for many types of scholarly output.  The bulk of the collection is comprised of theses (at both masters and doctoral levels), conference papers, journal articles, books, chapters in books, working papers and reports.

Software

The Repository uses Dspace, an open-source, OAI compliant tool created jointly by MIT and HP Labs.  The software is maintained by the University of Canterbury's Library IT department, and by ITCS.
