High demand @ MB - Macmillan Brown Library opening

  • The Macmillan Brown Library will be open from 8am-8pm from Monday- Thurday this week, and closed on Friday, the Earthquake Memorial day.  The weekend hours will be Saturday 9am - 5pm, Sunday 10am - 5pm.
  • MB will provide high-demand hourly loans, holds, interloans and some other material from the Central, EPS and Education Libaries to support students resuming lectures as part of the UC Progressive Restart programme.
  • The Law/Commerce High Demand will be available in MB soon.
  • Check the Macmillan Brown Library website for further details.

Items on loan

Items due after the 22nd of February were renewed:

  • High Demand items (e.g. 3 hour and 3 day) to the 15th March.
  • Interloans to the 15 March or later.
  • All other items to 1 May

Requests and recalls

  • There is no retrieval service at the moment from the other libraries, but please request any items that you need as this information will be used to set priorities in the coming days.
  • The Library will recall an item for you if it is out to another borrower.
  • An email will go out soon to indicate if an item on hold for you can be picked up at the MB Library

Interloans

Continue to make requests. Some requests are being processed where we are likely to get an electronic version. Interloans can be returned to the Macmillan Brown Library. The dropbox previously at NZi3 has been moved to Macmillan Brown Library from Wednesday 16 March.

Outstanding loans have been extended to 29 March, as Interloans staff apply for renewals from the supplying libraries. If the renewal is denied, Interloans staff will contact the appropriate borrowers. Once a renewal has been granted by the Supplying Library, the due date will be amended. Borrowers will be able to see this in "My Library Account".

Eresources

We are working with our vendors to extend access to eresources. See New Electronic Resources. We will also be reviewing all high-demand materials to see which of these are available digitally.   These are starting to come on stream now.  The best way to access these resources is through MultiSearch

Orders for the collection

Continue to make requests.  Send the details to acquisitions@libr.canterbury.ac.nz.  Some requests are being processed (e.g. where we will get an electronic version).  Check the new titles lists for recent acquisitions.
