The Terrain classification used the DEM to classify terrain areas into the below 16 categories (Iwahashi and Pike, 2007) (Young, 2012)


T01 Well-dissected alpine summits, mountains, etc.

T02 Large volcano, high block plateaus, etc.

T03 Well-dissected low mountains, etc.

T04 Volcanic fan, foot slope of high block plateaus,

T05 Dissected plateaus, etc.

T06 Basalt lava plain, glaciated plateau, etc.

T07 Moderately eroded mountains, lava flow, etc.

T08 Desert alluvial slope, volcanic fan, etc.

T09 Well-eroded plain of weak rocks, etc.

T10 Valley, till plain, etc.

T11 Eroded plain of weak rocks, etc.

T12 Desert plain, delta plain, etc.

T13 Incised terrace, etc.
