EndNote is bibliographic management software provided for staff and student use by the University of Canterbury. Read more about it below.

This software can be loaded onto the student login from the campus network or a copy of the software can be borrowed from the ICT Service Desk for downloading for home use.

Until you are familiar with the software, it can be complex to use. If you only have only a few references to cite in an undergraduate assignment, it may be easier to format citations and bibliographies in Word.

Endnote is database software designed to help you produce better bibliographies. With it, you can:

• Create databases of information sources such as journal articles and books. In EndNote these are called libraries.
• Add References to a library by typing in the information directly, or by downloading records from the library catalogue and subject databases. There are different instructions to follow for each different category of information.
• Insert temporary links in your Word document from your EndNote library.
• Format your bibliography in Word, with a citation style of your choice, by clicking on an EndNote command within Word. This occurs because EndNote and Word work together.
