Special projects are major externally-funded research programmes which are aligned with the QuakeCoRE mission, as well as its core values and culture. 

Special Project 1: Spatially-distributed Infrastructure: This project seeks to develop tools to assess the seismic performance of spatially-distributed infrastructure networks subject to extreme natural hazards.

Special Project 2: Resilience to Natures Challenge (RNC): This project invest efforts to develop new assessment, design and decision systems that will improve the resilience of the built environment and infrastructure networks that support New Zealand.
