About the Seminar
As academics, we are research active, and we'd like to have as wide a dissemination of our research works and ideas as possible. While several channels exist, open access is a way to ensure that our work reach a wide range of audience who will not have to pay to access the knowledge we strive to share with the world, and can make use of the knowledge base in freely; this both speeds up the dissemination of information but also adds to the speed of publishing and wider dissemination of knowledge. At one of the recent University of Canterbury College of Education, Health, and Human Development Research Committee meeting, the issue of Open Access Publishing was brought up and the Committee members encouraged the idea of hosting a seminar at the College where we can discuss and disseminate ideas about open access publishing with a view to improve and speed up the process of publications. The result is this seminar.
