The MARS-CT team is a multi-disciplinary group developing an innovative spectroscopic CT scanner incorporating the Medipix chip developed at CERN.

They are based in the Physics and Astronomy Department at the University of Canterbury and the Radiology Department at the Otago School of Medicine, Christchurch. The team have designed and built prototype MARS-CT systems and are currently working on the hardware, software and scientific and clinical applications of this exciting new technology.

The core public funding of the project is by the NZ government's Foundation for Research in Science and Technology (FRST) in the Research for Industry portfolio. MARS Bioimaging Ltd and partners are commercialising the projects technology.

For general information regarding the MARS-CT project and research team please browse the web pages. For further information contact the FRST project leader, Prof Phil Butler (see the Contact page).
